Georgetown University Press, a growing scholarly publisher, seeks a publishing assistant to handle a wide range of responsibilities including office management and permissions coordination.
The publishing assistant reports to the director of the press and interacts with all departments. Additional responsibilities include processing author/editor contracts; maintaining database records; working with acquisitions editors on manuscripts and author relations; processing permissions and creating revenue reports; assisting the business manager with royalties; and overseeing computer systems and equipment.
Candidates should have some experience in publishing and must possess excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat required; experience and proficiency with databases, especially FileMakerPro or the Allbooks database, a plus.
We offer a competitive salary and excellent benefits, with offices located in the heart of Georgetown in Washington, DC. While employees have flexible hours, telecommuting is not available for this position.
