A Textbook for Advanced Arabic
Mahmoud Al-Batal, Peter Glanville, Ghada Housen, and Zehad Sabry
An advanced Arabic textbook that helps increase intercultural competency along with language proficiency and literacy
Al-Kitaab, Part Three, with Website, Second Edition, is the newest edition of the fourth book in the bestselling Al-Kitaab Arabic Language Program. For students in the advanced stages of learning Arabic, Part Three, Second Edition, continues from Part Two, Third Edition, using an integrated approach to develop skills in formal and colloquial Arabic (Levantine and Egyptian), including reading, listening, speaking, writing, and cultural knowledge. The accompanying companion website—with a single-use code included with each new book—offers fully integrated videos and all audio for vocabulary and exercises to use alongside the text.
Incorporating all types of authentic texts and video, the book touches on important global topics and perspectives: literature; women's issues and feminism; folklore in contemporary culture; Arab-Islamic institutions; the future of Arab youth; the Arabic language; Islam and politics; globalization's impact on society; citizenship, pluralism, and society; and environmental issues. In the context of studying each of these topics, learners build vocabulary, focus on literacy (written and aural), and develop both spoken and written communication skills. At the end of each chapter, learners have the opportunity to write and speak about the topics, solidifying their understanding and leading them to advanced proficiency.
